INFANT TODDLER COMMUNITY
Toddler CommunityToddler community is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of the 15 to 36-month-old child. We provide a full day program form 7.45am – 3.30pm five days a week.
Children leave the Nido and enter the Toddler community at approximately 15/18 months of age, or when they are securely walking. As in the Nido, the Montessori environment is carefully prepared to aid the Toddler in achieving independence. Social interaction with other children, development of language skills, cooking, music, and movement activities are stressed.
The toddler community has one Montessori teacher and one assistant in a class of twelve children.
The Toddler Curriculum is built around the following areas of development:
The Cognitive Development – learning to think and solve problems
Language Development – learning to listen, understand and communicate
Social Development – learning about others and how to coexist with others peacefully
Emotional Development – learning about oneself and one’s feelings
Motor Development – learning to move, do and coordinate
Physical health – safety and wellbeing
Children engage in freely chosen activities which are meaningful for their development and they are encouraged to try new experiences.
