Home SCHOOL EVENTS

Parent Education is a chance for parents to get to understand the Montessori philosophy and other child development issues. There are several of these through the year. The first of these is the Montessori Journey, which is repeated every year. Other sessions cover various parenting issues.

Nanny Class is a class for those who assist the parents in the home with caring for the children. The class focus is to provide information on positive and effective interactions with children.

Father’s Day/Mother’s Day
Moms/dads come in on their special day to spend some fun time with other fathers / mothers in the school community and the children show their appreciation in creative ways.

Christmas Show is a day the school sets aside to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. It involves music, dance and drama performances by the children, and loads of food and games for all afterwards.

Portfolio Presentation Day is a day set aside at the end of the third term to involve our parents in an overview of our learning activities through the year. It includes classroom visits to see the children’s work and group presentations from classes and the enrichment clubs.

Teachable Moments are world celebrations days marked by the school to celebrate a world holiday, and to develop an awareness of the issues for which the day is set aside. We have identified several observation days on the UN calendar such as Earth Day, Africa Malaria day, etc.

When Parents Pray is a time for parents to come together to pray for the children. It holds once a month, usually on the last Friday

World Legacy Days are specific days chosen in school to honour humans who have made specific contributions to the development of our world. It will also serve to develop a sense of social responsibility in the children.

Wacky Day is one of our favourites. It is a day, usually the last day of the term that allow us to acceptably do things contrary to convention. Wacky day includes activities such as pyjamas day, crazy hair day and others.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are those days when each parent meets with their child’s teacher to discuss his/her development.

Culture Day is a day to celebrate Nigeria’s independence. Children and staff come to school dressed in traditional attire, and parents are encouraged to come in and share interesting stories from their culture with the children.

Reading Parent: In the Infant, Toddler and Preschool programs, a parent comes in every Friday to read to a class

Parent Committee

Parent Teacher Conference
Mid way through the term, parents have a short session with their child’s teacher and they discuss the child’s progress and collaborate on strategies to further aid the child’s development both at home and in school

When Parents Pray
Every last Friday of the month, Parents come into the school between 7.00am and 8.00am to pray for the children in the school. We are firm believers of the adage that says “when parents pray, something happens”.
